Denver, CO Mountain Wedding Photography: Nikki + Allan's Washington D.C. Wedding

I'm not sure how many of you who follow along here on our blog are aware, but Washington D.C. has a very special place in our hearts.  This is where Will and I met, dated, got married and then spent the first few years of our married life together.  For us as a couple, it's our first home.  Without a doubt, our favorite part about D.C. are the friends we made while there.  D.C. is a funny place.  Virtually no one is from there.  Everyone is "transient"...meaning that they aren't from there, and they likely won't live there forever.  Because of this, the people you become friends with are your family...you spend weekends together, holidays, birthdays, everything.  It's pretty awesome, actually, because your relationships quickly go deeper than just friendship and you learn to really rely on each other as though they are your family.  I truly do miss that.

Will met one of his very closest friends through their time in the military together.  This friend immediately became one of my closest friends as well once Will and I started dating.  When his younger sister, Nikki, moved to town, she instantly became part of our "family" as well.  We feel like she is our younger sister and love her so very dearly.  Nikki moved to town to go to school to get her PA (Physician's Assistant) degree.  (Don't know what a PA is?  I didn't either.  It means that she is licensed to practice medicine under the direction of a physician or surgeon.  So basically she's a doctor who works under a MD.  In layman's terms...she's SUPER smart.) :)  Because of her area of study, she was doing medical volunteer work at a local fire station.  I remember when she started talking about this handsome fire fighter who she met and was interested in.  Obviously the rest is history.  Allan is an amazing man who is now her husband.

When Nikki called us to ask if we would travel back to D.C. to be their wedding photographers, we were so beyond excited.  It was so awesome to be able to capture every moment of their day, especially knowing them, their story, and their family so very well.

Nikki and Allan, we love you so very much.  Thank you for choosing us to be a part of your day, thank you for allowing us to be a part of your family, and thank you for being amazing human beings.  Can't wait until our next Mexico adventure together!!! :)
